"A Measure of Mercy" by Lauraine Snelling is set in the early 1900's in a small North Dakota town. Astrid Bjorklund wants to be a doctor but her dream is put on hold when her family loses most of their income. Astrid decides to remain home in Blessing to study under her sister-in-law, Dr. Elizabeth. Joshua Landsverk returns to Blessing to court Astrid. Astrid is attracted to him, and she doesn’t want to leave when she gets the chance to study medicine in Chicago. The book shows us why God allows things to happen even when we don't understand His reasoning at the time.
