Dawn Comes Early
“Dawn Comes Early” by Margaret Brownley is the first book in her Brides of Last Chance Ranch series. In this book we meet Boston dime novelist Kate Tenney. When Kate’s latest book gets banned, she moves to Arizona Territory. Kate sees an ad for someone who is looking for an heiress to their cattle ranch. The catch is that in order to inherit the ranch, she must never marry. Kate soon realizes that the world she has written about is a lot different than how it truly is. When she first arrives in Cactus Patch, she meets the infamous outlaw Cactus Joe as he tries to hold her hostage. Then she soon realizes the woman she is to be working for is a hard person to get along with. Kate’s determination never waivers even if she was not prepared for life on a cattle ranch. Kate soon becomes friends with the town blacksmith Luke Adams. She has no intention of marrying but the more she is around Luke the more she likes what she sees. When Kate is kidnapped, Luke realizes how special she is to him and tries everything he can to win Kate’s heart. Kate knows she has fallen for Luke but if she marries him she will not inherit the ranch she has worked to get. Will Kate forfeit the ranch to be with the man that she loves?
This was my first book by Margaret Brownley and it will not be my last. The book grabs your attention from the start and you will not want to put it down. I can’t wait until book two comes out. I received a complimentary copy of this book to review from Thomas Nelson.
