In “Echoes” by Robin Jones Gunn, we meet Lauren Phillips. Lauren is devastated when her finance breaks off their engagement to move to New York, but her brother introduces her to the internet. She becomes pen pals with a man she only knows as K.C. Lauren soon finds herself looking forward to his emails and pouring out her heart to him. When they decide to meet face to face, Lauren gets scared after seeing him and bolts. She decides to pay her best friend, Teri, a visit. When Lauren arrives in Glenbrooke she is welcomed by Kyle and Jessica. Kyle and Teri have decided that Lauren needs to meet Kyle’s brother, Kenton. But Lauren is not ready for that and neither is Kenton. When Kenton backs out of going on a trip to Hawaii with his brother and friends, they decided to ask Lauren to go. Kenton later decides to make the trip after all and when Lauren sees him she is in for the shock of her life as he is her beloved K.C. only he doesn’t know it. Will Kenton forgive Lauren for deserting him? Will Lauren listen to her heart?
“Echoes” is the third book in the Glenbrooke series but it can be read as a standalone. This was the first book I have read by this author and will be looking for more. The story is funny, sweet and teaches us that everything happens in God’s time. I received this book for free from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group for this review.
