In “Stress Test” by Richard L. Mabry, M.D., we meet Dr. Matt Newman. Matt has a wonderful life. He will soon be starting a new job teaching medicine and has a girlfriend who may be the one. Everything changes for Matt one morning when he leaves the hospital ER. Matt is attacked, kidnapped and almost murdered. He manages to escape the kidnappers but is seriously hurt and ends up in the ICU. When he wakes up he learns that he is a prime suspect in a murder investigation. Matt does not know who is after him but he knows he did not kill anyone. His lawyer, Sandra Murray, believes his story. The two start piecing together what happened and try to investigate, but somebody wants Matt dead. They keep coming after him and framing him for other crimes. Matt turns to God to see him through in his time of need. His girlfriend breaks up with him because she does not want anybody to connect the two. Matt goes through some really tough lows but he knows that God is there with him, and so is Sandra. Who is framing Matt and why? Will he and Sandra have a future relationship other than lawyer/client?
“Stress Test” is a fast paced thriller that will keep you guessing. This is a wonderful book showing us how we need to rely on God when we are at our lowest. No matter how bad life may be or who may walk out of our lives, He will always be there for us. I received a complimentary copy of this book to review from Thomas Nelson.
