Though My Heart is Torn

"Though My Heart is Torn” by Joanne Bischof continues the heart wrenching story of Lonnie and Gideon O’Riley. When we first met Lonnie and Gideon in “Be still My Soul”, they were forced to marry because of a misunderstanding. Lonnie looked to Gideon as someone who was saving her from a life of misery and Gideon thought of Lonnie as nothing but a burden. Though they had many hard times they did eventually fall in love. Now that love is threatened. They are called back home thinking that Lonnie’s mother is very ill. When they arrive back in Rocky Knob they soon learn that Gideon has another wife. Gideon and Cassie Allan married in secret and soon realized marriage was not for them. Gideon thought the marriage was annulled but Cassie never sent the papers off to dissolve the marriage. Gideon is forced to give up Lonnie and their young son, Jacob. Lonnie leaves and goes back to their home but her heart is torn because of her love for Gideon. Gideon and Cassie stay in Rocky Knob and she soon realizes that she will never have his heart. In the meantime, Lonnie tries to move on with her life but finds that it is hard to do. Will Lonnie and Gideon find their way back to each other?

This is the second book in The Cadence of Grace series and it is a wonderfully written book. Your heart will ache for Lonnie and Gideon as their story unfolds. You will want to read the first book in the series first to appreciate the relationship they have with each other and with God. I received this book for free from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group for this review. Click here to read the first chapter.
