Blood and Bone

In “Blood and Bone” by Don Hoesel, we are once again swept away on an adventure with Jack Hawthorne. When we first met Jack in “Elisha’s Bones” he was hired to find the prophets bones that have a magical healing power. As Jack and Espy raced around the world to find the bones, they attracted the attention of the secret organization that keeps the bones hidden. They managed to stay alive and find the bones and then they hid them in the Australian desert. Now many years have passed and someone wants the bones again. This time they have kidnapped Jack and Espy’s sons in hopes of making a trade. Jack and Espy travel to Australia to uncover the bones but find that someone else has gotten there first. They soon find their lives in grave danger not only from the kidnappers but also the secret organization that wants them stopped. Will Jack find the bones before it is too late?

“Blood and Bone” is another fast paced thriller that will keep you turning the pages. This is the third book about archeologist Jack Hawthorne. You will want to read “Elisha’s Bones” and “Serpent of Moses” first in order to appreciate the relationship between Jack and Espy and the relationship they have with God. All three books are full of history and intrigue and the gentle reminder that God is in control no matter how bad the situation may be. We only have to trust in Him to see us through. I received a complimentary copy of this book to review from Bethany House Publishers.
