In “Forever Friday” by Timothy Lewis, Adam Colby’s job of sorting through Gabe and Pearl Alexander’s belongings after an estate sale uncovers a love story like no other. What he finds are albums full of postcards sent from Gabe to Pearl every Friday with a love poem written on it. After uncovering the postcards Adam wants to know the rest of their life story. Adam has gone through a rough divorce and no longer hopes that he can love again. He sets out to find what the Alexander’s secret was. Yvette, a young lady who knew the Alexander’s, helps him by telling Adam the stories that Pearl told her. We are taken back to 1926 when Gabe and Pearl first met. It was love at first sight but Pearl was engaged to another man. She soon finds out that Gabe is her soul mate. After they marry, Gabe promises that every Friday he will send a love poem to her so that their love for each other will never fade. In hearing their story and reading the love poems Adam slowly starts to hope that he too will find his soul mate.
This was a sweet love story that will make you laugh, make you cry, and make you think about what is truly important in your life. In this book we see the ups and downs the Alexander’s have from the beginning but through it all we see how deeply devoted they are to one another until the end.
