All in Good Time

In “All in Good Time” by Maureen Lang we meet Dessa Caldwell. Dessa is following in her friends footsteps and wants to open a house of refuge for former prostitutes in Denver. Dessa has many donors helping her but she needs more money to see her dream come to fruition. When she goes to Hawkins National Bank she meets the owner Henry Hawkins. Henry does not want to loan her the money but his uncle sees something in Dessa and ignores Henry’s wishes. Henry has a heart of steal and his uncle hopes that Dessa’s sweetness will bring the wall around his heart down. Dessa and Henry are drawn to each other but they are also wary of each other. They both also have deep dark secrets they don’t want the other to find out. Slowly a relationship develops but they are still cautious. They both know if their secrets are found out their relationship could be over before it is even started. Will they put their trust in God to see them through?

“All in Good Time” is a very well written book about life in Denver, Colorado in the late 1800’s. The author paints a great picture of the times and makes you feel like you are there. This book shows us that no matter what has happened in our past we only need to ask God for forgiveness and He will see us to a better future. This book shows us that sometimes our plans are not what He has in mind and we must always listen to Him. I received a complimentary copy of this book for this review from Tyndale House Publishers.
