In “A Broken Kind of Beautiful” by Katie Ganshert we meet Ivy Clark. Ivy is a model with an uncertain future. She has reached the age where the industry no longer wants her. She gets a chance at an editorial but there is a catch. She must go to Greenbrier, South Carolina to model wedding dresses for her stepmother, Marilyn. Ivy was the result of an affair and has never felt wanted by her mother or her father. Marilyn was devastated by her husband’s affair especially because she was barren, but God let her know that she would be Ivy’s true mother even when Ivy pushed her away. Ivy has gone through life thinking that the only reason people want her is because she is beautiful but she knows she is broken on the inside. When Davis Knight walks back into Ivy’s life her world gets turned upside down. He’s the one man who resists her charms and challenges her to find her true self. Davis has issues of his own as well and Ivy pushes him just as much as he pushes her. Will the two of them finally accept God’s forgiveness and open themselves up to true love?
This is an amazing novel that will keep you turning the pages. This is a heartbreaking story that reminds us that no matter what we have done all we have to do is ask for God’s forgiveness and we will be redeemed. We must always remember that when it seems that the world is against us His love for us is unconditional. Have a tissue handy when you read this one!
