Tide and Tempest

“Tide and Tempest” by Elizabeth Ludwig takes us to New York to a world of intrigue and murder. Tillie McGrath left Ireland with her fiancé two years earlier. On the voyage to America her fiancé died. She moved into a boardinghouse in New York to start a life of her own. Her world gets thrown upside down when Captain Keondric Morgan reappears. He has always thought about the beautiful woman he left at the boardinghouse but when he finds out that her fiancé was murdered on his boat he knows that Tillie’s life may very well be in danger as well. He sets out with the help of his brother to uncover the evil plot to find out why someone would want Tillie dead. As the two spend time together their feelings deepen but both are scared to admit it to the other. Keondric thinks that Tillie has fallen for his brother and Tillie thinks that Keondric feelings are just friendly concern. Will the two be able to solve this mystery and live happily ever after?

This is a story that tests the faith of Tillie and Keondric. Tillie feels that she is unworthy of forgiveness from God so she has never been able to fully forgive herself for her past sins. We see how once she is able to forgive herself God leads her to the great love she has been hoping for. This is the third book in the Edge of Freedom series and it is a very well written book that will sweep you into this devious plot. I highly recommend reading “No Safe Harbor” and “Dark Road Home” to get the complete story from the beginning. I received a complimentary copy of this book to review from Bethany House Publishers through NetGalley.
