A Deadly Business

“A Deadly Business” by Lis Wiehl continues the story of prosecutor Mia Quinn. In “A Matter of Trust” Mia was coping with the death of her husband and trying to manage her career and raising a fourteen-year-old son and a four-year-old daughter. Mia thought she had a good life but she knew something had changed with her husband. In this book we learn that maybe her husband’s accident was not an accident at all. Mia works with homicide detective and friend Charlie Carlson to uncover just what was going on in her husband’s life. But as the two get closer to uncovering the truth Mia’s life becomes endangered. Not only is she trying to solve that mystery but she also has a job as prosecutor to do. She has been given the task of prosecuting three teenage boys in an attempted murder case. But not everything is as it seems and that is something Mia begins to understand more and more as she investigates these two cases. Will she be able to solve the mystery surrounding her husband’s death before it is too late?

This book opens with a bang and grabs your attention until the end. This is a very well written book that is full of mystery and will make you keep turning the pages then leave you wanting more. I highly recommend this series and the Triple Threat series by Lis Wiehl to anyone who loves a fast paced mystery. I received a complimentary copy of this book to review from BookLook Bloggers.

Silenced

“Silenced” by Dani Pettrey takes us on another adventure in the Alaskan wilderness. Kayden McKenna and her siblings are adventure seekers and lately they have been involved in several mysteries and murders. When Kayden comes face to face with another murder victim it turns her life upside down. The sheriff asks for Jake Cavanagh’s help in the case now that Jake’s true identity has been revealed. Kayden has always been leery of Jake mainly because she knows she has deep feelings for him. Now as the two spend time together she comes to know Jake better and has an even harder time falling for him. Jake already knows that his heart belongs to Kayden and sets out to win her heart completely. When the case is solved the two think life will go back to normal. What the two did not count on was for Jake’s past to come back into his life and put them both in critical danger. It seems someone does not want Jake to be happy and now he must figure out the clues before he loses another woman he loves but will he be too late?

This is another amazing and fast paced suspense that will keep you turning the pages. This book is full of suspense and romance that will leave you wanting more. In this book we see how the two main characters rely on God to see them through the case and in their feelings for each other. This book mainly focuses on Kayden and Jake but it does have all of the McKenna family as well. I highly recommend reading the first three books, “Submerged”, “Shattered”, and “Stranded” first so that you will have more background on the relationship between Kayden and Jake. I highly recommend this whole series and can’t wait for Reef’s story! I received a complimentary copy of this book to review from Bethany House.

One Perfect Spring

In “One Perfect Spring” by Irene Hannon we meet Claire Summers and Keith Watson. Claire is a single mother that has vowed to be independent and has sworn off men. Since Claire’s marriage fell apart she has a hard time trusting men and is afraid of having her heart broken again. Keith Watson is a workaholic and does not take time to have a personal life other than taking care of his mother. When Claire’s daughter writes a letter to Keith’s boss for help in finding her neighbor’s son their lives are soon to be intertwined. Keith’s boss David wants Keith to take on the project in hopes of showing Keith that there is more to life than work. Claire’s neighbor Maureen agrees to the project when she sees the attraction between Claire and Keith. Little did Maureen and David count on was the feelings they themselves have for each other. Maureen never dreamed that she would find love at her age and David did not believe he could have a second chance at love. Will these four people find love this spring?

This was a sweet romance that will keep you pulled in until the end. There are also a couple of twists to the story that will keep you turning the pages. This story shows us that we are all capable and deserving of love no matter our pasts and that when we seek God He will show us the one meant for us. This book will tug at your heart and make you smile at the end. I received a complimentary copy of this book to review from Revell.
