“When I Fall in Love” by Susan May Warren takes us back to Deep Haven with the Christiansen family. Grace Christiansen loves to cook and has dreamed of going to culinary school but has never been accepted. Her family surprises her with a trip to Hawaii for a cooking retreat. Grace does not like to be out of her comfort zone and does not look forward to the trip at all especially when is seems her sister has set her up with a travelling partner, Maxwell Sharpe. Max is a professional hockey player but he loves to cook and every summer he goes to Hawaii to the cooking school for three weeks. When he is asked to look after Grace he is not happy but he finds himself drawn to her. Once in Hawaii, Grace does not think she will be able to leave her hotel room. She is far removed from her comfort zone and wants to go home, but Max makes her experience Hawaii and dares her to do things she would not normally do. The two start to fall for each other but then Max pulls away and leaves Grace wondering why. Max has a secret and is afraid to tell Grace the truth and he knows there can be no future with her. Will Grace and Max have their happily ever after?
This is another amazing book that will keep you turning the pages until the end. This book will make you laugh, make you cry, and leave you with a smile. In this book we see how Grace turns to God to make her complete when Max walks away. We see how Max relies on God to see him through an uncertain future and gives him the courage to finally take a chance on love. This is the third book in the Christiansen Family series and I highly recommend reading “Take a Chance on Me” and “It had to Be You” first. I received a complimentary copy of this book to review from Tyndale House Publishers.
